| INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS |
 |
 |
| |
| Unwrap the blinds. Don’t untie the cord at this time. The blinds packaging should indicate its location in the room and whether it is an inside or outside mount. Note that the installation brackets are marked L (Left) and R (Right). |
| |
 |
| OUTSIDE MOUNT |
INSIDE MOUNT |
|
|
| |
| If your blinds are to be installed as an outside mount, hold the blind level and center against the window casing. Mark the casing with a pencil just below the head-rail on each end. Also mark the window casing 1/8” beyond the ends of the head-rail. The right and left installation brackets will be placed on these marks. |
| |
| OUTSIDE MOUNT |
| |
 |
| |
| Remember to keep the head-rail level – even if your window isn’t. |
| |
| For an inside mount, make certain the head-rail is level and clear of obstructions. Make pencil marks below the head-rail on each end. The right hand and left hand installation brackets will be placed on these marks. |
| |
| INSIDE MOUNT |
| |
 |
| |
| Remember to keep the head-rail level – even if your window isn’t. |
| |
| For a Ceiling or Overhead Mount, hold the blind against the ceiling centred in front of the window and make pencil marks 1/8” beyond the ends of the head-rail. The right and left installation brackets will be placed on these marks. |
| |
| CEILING MOUNT |
| |
 |
| |
| Remember to keep the head-rail level – even if your window isn’t. |
| |
| MOUNTING INSTALLATION BRACKETS |
 |
 |
| |
| The brackets can be mounted using two screws in several different orientations depending on your needs: |
| |
- Inside the jambs (inside mount)
- To the outside face of the window casing or wall (outside mount)
- Overhead: either to the top inside of the window frame (inside mount) or to the ceiling (outside mount)
|
 |

CEILING MOUNT |
|
|
| |
| Projection brackets will be included if requested. Mount the projection bracket to the wall or window casing using the long wood screws or one of the methods described below. Attach the mounting brackets to the projection brackets using the machine screws and nuts provided. |
| |
 |
| |
| Open the bracket’s swivel cover with a screwdriver. Hold the bracket against the mounting surface and align it with the pencil marks. Using a pencil, mark the location of two diagonal holes for the mounting screws; you may drill holes using a 7/64” drill bit, or if a drill is not available, use a finishing nail and a hammer or an awl to make small holes to start the screws. Keep the screws at least ¼” from the edge of the wood to prevent the wood from splitting. |
| |
| HINT: Smearing a little bar soap on the screw threads will make them drive more easily. |
| |
If the mounting surface is metal, you must pre-drill holes for the screws. Use a 1/8” steel drill bit.
If the surface is brick, tile, stone or concrete, it will be necessary to use a carbide drill and suitable anchors, plugs or screws.
Plaster and wallboard need pre-drilled holes for anchors or plugs. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for these types of fasteners. |
|
| |
| AUXILIARY SUPPORT BRACKETS |
 |
 |
| |
| If an auxiliary support bracket is included with your blinds, it should be placed in line with the installation brackets. |
| |
 |
| |
| The auxiliary support should not be in line with the blind’s cord or ladder as it may interfere with the blinds lifting and tilting mechanism. |
| |
| If the projection brackets are being used, mount projection bracket to the wall or window casing and attach the auxiliary support using a machine screw and a nut. |
| |
 |
| |
| HEAD-RAIL INSTALLATION |
 |
 |
| |
| Insert the head-rail in to the mounting brackets. |
| |
 |
| |
| Close the swivel covers to lock head-rail in place. |
| |
 |
| |
| If the blind is not fitting snugly left to right, open the mounting brackets; remove the head-rail and pry out the tab at the end of the head-rail with a screwdriver. |
| |
 |
| |
| WAND ATTACHMENT |
 |
 |
| |
| If the wand is not attached to the tilter shaft, simply push up on the plastic sleeve around the tilter shaft and spring clip. Slip the wand onto the spring clip, then close the opening by pushing the plastic sleeve back down and let the wand hang freely. |
| |
 |
| |
| Now you will be able to adjust the angle of the slats by turning the wand. CAUTION: Do not continue to turn the wand after it starts to bind as this may damage the tilt mechanism. |
| |
| OPTIONAL HOLD DOWN BRACKETS |
 |
 |
| |
 |
| |
| Lower the blind, insert the brackets onto the pins and mark the location of the screw holes on the mounting surface. Try to keep the holes at least ¼” from the edge of the wood to avoid splitting the wood. You may use a 1/16” drill bit, or, if no drill is available, use a finishing nail and hammer to make the small holes to start screws. |
| |
| ADJUST BLIND HEIGHT |
 |
 |
| |
| To raise or lower the blind, pull all the cords down and toward the centre of the blind, this will release the cord lock. When the blind is at the desired height, pull the cords back past the edge of the blind and release them, they will automatically lock in place. |
| |
 |
| |
| If the bottom of the blind is uneven, it can now be adjusted by operating the cords separately. |
| |
 |
| |
| CLEANING |
 |
 |
| |
| Clean with damp cloth and mild soap. A thin film of mild soap left on the louvers helps keep static electricity from building up. |
